Three day weekend! We took my mom to the airport last night (she's visiting the Philippines til the 29th). You know you're at check in for a flight going to the Philippines when you see everyone with Balikbayan boxes instead of suitcases. XD But since that took the whole day yesterday, it feels more like a normal weekend rather than extra day off. x_x (I ended up not going to Pomona, by the way. Which isn't that much of a big deal to me since I went last year, and with my mom leaving and all, everything worked out.)

So! I realized that I made errors in my UC application last week. I've spent the past five days feeling like a total retard (including me dropping by my counselor's office to spazz during zero.) Although I noted that marching/symph band were pass/fail courses, I marked them as "A" on the grade reporting section, which was apparently wrong. >> I crashed my counselor's office the next morning and he told me not to freak out. Changing a letter grade to "P" isn't a big deal. And then I also realized that I made mistakes in labeling those classes too. Marching/symphonic band is run as a full year course, but I didn't realize that they appear under two separate course titles on my transcript. I marked "A   A" under symphonic band, when it should have been "A  --" under marching, and "-- A" under symphonic. And then the A's should really be "P".

He said that it's not as severe an error as I think it is (cause they're extra curricular unweighted courses taken outside of the normal school day), but I still feel really stupid because it's like, "Hey! I want to get into your college but I can't even fill an application out right~!". I should be thankful that I found out before the main app processing begin, though. If I hadn't told the schools about the error, they would've gotten my transcript in the summer and withdrawn my acceptance for lying, but since I'm telling them now, it's not that bad. (I was worried that it was too late, and since I decided to only apply to uc's, if they discounted my app because of that, then I'd be fucked. Augh! I don't think I've ever felt so stressed/worried in my entire life! I couldn't eat, I couldn't do hw, I couldn't think about anything except my app which I tried not to do because it made me feel so adfjkha! until Mr. K told me not to freak out.)

SO YEAH, it's all better now, and I've just got to dig up a few more email links for the UCs, send in the info change, then go work on some school stuff because this weeks is finals. (You know- Fuck, I Never Actually Learned Shit.)

I'm consoling myself by watching this MBLAQ video. Every time I hear the chorus (1:10 is the best thing evar omg), I'm torn between singing along and laughter because while it's not as bad a SHINee's "Ring Ding Dong", its really funny how they're turning an English phrase into an entire song chorus. XDD (Well, this is MBLAQ, a group whose name stands for Music Boys Live in Absolute Quality. And yes, they do say "Amigos" in the beginning of the video. But to be honest, I love this song. XDD There's just something about it.

A crash course on MBLAQ. I need to look up these boys more. I'm watching them on Idol Army right now, and man, Joon and Mir are kind of insane, haha. XD Joon played younger!Rain in Ninja Assassin and once set fire to his house; Mir grew up on a farm and is just really spacey in general (and also does tend to randomly bite things, bahaha.)

Joon and Seungho. Their weirdness speaks for itself.

Hm, so, first free weekend of the year! :) I'm staying on top of this hw thing thus far; I'm satisfied with what I've been doing. :)

Upcoming stuff:

This week:
Tues 11- Minimum daaaay.
Sat 16- Sun 17- Asian American Expo!!! Again. ... actually, I have no idea if I'm even going. (It's a giant Asian business expo/convention. Band goes, but the number of people is capped- last year it was mini marching band, jazz band, and wind ensemble, and this year, not even wind ensemble's going. I'd assume that I'm going because there are only two mellophones to choose from, you know? And I'm assume he'd want those. XD But I dunno, band's been weird. He never officially told the horns that we're going, so maybe he's thinking that we'd automatically know we're going? Either that, or he's not putting us on the list. :/ I'm probably overthinking this, I think. I'm just gonna go ask him on Monday, haaaah.)

Also, on the 17th, my mom's going to the Philippinessss! Again! I'm not gonna be able to see her off that day though, because of the Asian American Expo thing. :/

Then it's finals week. :(
Mon 18th- No school! :D
Thurs-Fri- Finals, blargh.
Sat. 23- Cody's legal! :D haha, my friends are getting olllllld. Not that I don't have friends who aren't already in college, but man. This is my middle school group, you know? We've been tight since we were 12 and squirrel. d'aaaaw. :')

We're also starting our AP Gov project of the year: running our own political campaigns. I'm rather liberal in social matters (say, 7-8 on a scale of 10), but I'm not really sure where I stand economically. I'm all for welfare and helping people in need and desperate times and bad situations and stuff, but on the other hand, it's like, "Gah!!! Make your own damn money!". I feel that the government is obligated to help people who definitely have the need, but there are people who see this and take advantage, just waiting around for their own gov. handouts without really putting any effort on their own. Also, even if I were to get supaaaa rich when I'm older, I think I'd still support a graduated income tax, bahaha. XD I'll make my own damn money, and if I'm practically rolling in that shit, I don't see why I should put up such a fuss about giving up a portion of it. It's like, "Wah, wah, I only have three BMWs instead of four, life is so unfaaaaair" YEAH RIGHT.

Ga-In and Jo Kwon performing "We Fell In Love" for the first time! These guys are so adorable. :') Their general awkwardness and bumbling is so apparent and honest, which is what makes me like them so much. Jo Kwon's trying to put the moves on her at one point, bahaha. Then starts to try to reciprocate, looks at him, and just gives up. XD And I know that on the show, they've got the whole cute, shy couple thing going on but I wish they'd have at least interacted and played around with each other a bit more throughout the song. You're singing about love... I know you're embarrassed about that kind of stuff with each other, but when you're performing, you've got to act out the emotions. At times, it was more "two people standing next to each other singing" rather than "we're singing together". Nevertheless, it was a good performance. I just hope that they perform it again, but next time make it a bit less stationary. x_x

I'M GETTING INTO THE SWING OF THE "START HOMEWORK KINDA EARLY (I.E. BEFORE NINE OR TEN)" THING. WORK ALWAYS SEEMS TO FLY BY ONCE I START DOING IT, AND IT ISN'T AS LONG AND TIME CONSUMING AS I THINK IT WOULD BE. IT'S THE GETTING STARTED PART THAT'S THE HARDERST. ><

New Year's Resolution: successfully keep up with my New Year's Resolution.

YEAH SELF FULFILLING RESOLUTIONS!

-----

Okay, srsly, though. It was the easiest resolution evar until I came up with a few things I actually want to do.
  • Eat healthy and exercise. ...pfffffft.
  • Cut down on clutter and stop buying useless shit. I'm streamlining my life in college, yo.
  • Be diligent in my blogging! >:o

I've never really been into New Year's Resolutions. I've always thought that if you really wanted to make a change, you wouldn't just wait until a new year began; you'd just simply sit down and do it. :/ To be honest, these are really more of "things I want to be better at in my life". With college coming up in the fall, I want to start it off with good habits.

...pffffffft.

I've spent the past week re-immersing myself in the kpop world. =.= I knew of a few groups but never really took an interest, but ever since coming across 2PM, I've been hooked and pouring through  and allkpop.com, getting a grasp on what's going on. omonatheydidnt is awesome, by the way; the people are really amusing (like how lulzy GIF strings are so common, or they have an epic peen/bulge post with 1400+ comment worth of guys with really tight pants or awkward boners and stuff) and hay bb, I realized how out of sync I was with the net world I was because I'm so unfamiliar with so many abbreviations now! But I am learning.

You're Beautiful (the most amazing k-drama, by the way, and if you haven't started watching it, you're LAME and BORING. Or really busy. ) was actually parodied by 2PM a few days after I started getting into the group. CLEARLY THIS LOVE WAS MEANT TO BE.
Hm, never pictured Khun as Tae Kyung. But Wooyoung as Go Mi Nam = WIN, ahah.

The SBS Gayo Daejun awards are amazing, by the way, so if you want a crash course on which groups are hot or not, check out the link. I'd recommend my favorite performance, but there's such variety. I've only watched the 2AM/2PM takes, but there's a LOT of them, so I think I've seen quite a bit of the show. Video link post is here; I love the 2PM/SNSD collab but maybe it's just my Woo infatuation...? and then they've got a bunch of ssanti ("cheap", aka gag) dances. (Apparently, its just a continuation of what the Wonder Girls did last year. After getting into the fandom, Wonder Girls is a lot less disconcerting, ahaha.) 2PM's in Bo Peep, Mister, Muzik (@1:10), and a few others. The shirts Woo and Khun wear in Mister/Muzik- I saw them at American Apparel last week! Seeing this makes me want to buy the "Ww" one. >< Which is all kinds of sad, and would lead to awkward questions if I wore it in public. Davichi and 2AM had an awesome collab, and as always, 2PM's performances were very cool- their new song Tired of Waiting and the best performance of Heartbeat I have ever seen.

-----

I also started watching We Got Married, which always sounded really lame until I found out Jo Kwon and Ga-In of Brown Eyed Girls were in it.

Jo Kwon and a BEG member... after seeing the Dirty Eyed Girls vid, how can I not want to watch this? They're soooo funny... because I mean, its Jo Kown! He's kinda really effeminate and not typical male idol material, and then he's coupled with Ga-In, who's not afraid to give him a hard time. She's older than him and totally wears the pants in the relationship and their interactions are just so funny to watch. XD Omg, these guys need to become a couple IRL. Fo realz. Link to WGM ep. 1... the translated eps online are hard to find, unfortunately. D;

Through the show, they ended up recording a duet together (proceeds going to charity); I'm really digging it. And as silly as Jo Kwon is, he's got one heck of a voice.

Oh, and another question: since when has DBSK been TVQX, let alone about to disband?! D: I haven't paid attention to them since summer, but apparently, I've missed quite a bit.

----

everything else k-popish split into two other posts, yo. Intro post on 2PM and why they're so interesting and then a crash course on 2PM performances/mvs/shows.

STARTING THE YEAR OFF RIGHT.

Turn on captions for Eng. subtitles, yo.

It's from Wild Bunny, a show about 2PM. The premise of the show: a group of idols set free to do whatever they want, free from the constraints of keep up an idol image. It's fucking hilarious. In this episode, four of the group members were out of town, leaving a very bored Changsun, Taecyeon, and Wooyoung. So they call up their 2AM buddies Jokwon and Seulong and decide to make a parody video of Brown Eyed Girl's Abracadabra, renaming themselves the Dirty Eyed Girls. It's similar to Wonder Boys in intent- to be fucking hilarious- and it succeeded. I also found out that Jo Kwon, leader of 2AM, actually WAS one of the Wonderboys, which really does explain a lot, and makes it no surprise that he wins the competition to be the DEG leader. He's the one dancing in the pink shrug.

River- Barry Manilow

So, I've spent the past five days performing at the McCallum... with Barry freakin' Manilow. Remember when I mentioned how he donated musical instruments to all the local music programs last fall? He's doing something awesome again. Friday, Saturday, Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, he's been hosting benefit concerts where the proceeds benefit local charities. Like, full scale what-you'd-see-at-his-Vegas-gig professional concerts. And he asked for a septet of high school musicians to accompany him in the song "I Am Your Child". Which, considering I'm one of the two violas playing with Barry freakin' Manilow, is a Very. Big. Deal.

And its just so much fun and I'm really bummed that this is the last performance! It feels like I've been doing this for weeks! But it's barely been five days. I really don't know how I'm gonna top this this year.

Barry Manilow is so fucking amazing. :D

Kaichou wa Maid Sama! has been pissing me off lately. D: The pull of Misaki's character came from her independence and headstrong nature, but in the recent chapters, now that she and Usui are a kinda-sorta-real-couple, all she's done is fuss about their relationship blah blah blah like a lost dog. That, and it feels like there's been pretty much no plot development or comedy lately; pretty much all they do for the entire 30-40 page set is comprised of them acting all awkward/shy/lovey-dovey around each other and blushing and flirting. >> In other words, its falling into the same trap all shojo manga do when the character admit their feelings for eachother.

DARN IT. AND I WAS HOPING THIS SERIES WOULD BE DIFFERENT. :(

I guess its fallen prey to the "retarded love sick shojo heroine" disease. x______x
